  Should I transfer my domain or just map it? What does that mean as far as hosting and cost? What’s better for an online charity shop?

  You can do either. Whether you map or transfer your existing domain, you will need to purchase a WordPress.com plan.

  Depending on what you are wanting to do with your online shop, the Business Plan may be what you are looking for because you can install plugins such as WooCommerce for your online store:

  The difference is who you want to host your domain. If you transfer the domain to WordPress.com, we’ll manage the domain. You’ll pay for the mapping and the plan here (domain is included within the plan price for the first year).

  But, if you keep the domain at your current host and map the domain to WordPress.com, you current host will continue to manage the domain and you’ll need to pay them for hosting your domain.
