donotreply emails do not help
-
i’m starting a site, rfc-the-un-blogger.com, (your bot’s name, not mine). i can’t pay for the upgrade until next week. but, i’ve gotten multiple donotreply emails trying to get me to pay faster.
this is not constructive communication
i am an old-school web site developer.
the new technology is a little intimidating; but, when it all comes around to PAYING for the ‘upgrade,’ I don’t foresee many problems. However, automated, visually oriented tutorials and sales pitches are not helpful or cummunicative. -
Hi there, those automated emails do not know whether you are new to blogging or an old school developer. Regardless there’s an unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email or you can go to your notifications settings preferences at https://wordpress.com/me/notifications/updates and untick and save your changes there.
Let us know how that goes or if you need more help.

Whoever responded to my post about the donotreply emals, missed the point of the post. I know how to unsubscribe. I know how to block.
Therre are a dozen emails in my inbox from WordPress. 8 of them are prompting me to pay in advance for my free first year.
I am new to blogging. But, I have built dozens of sites before site-building bots like this one put me out of business.
I signed up for a “domain name” so I would be able to post some of the music I intend to blog about, and possible use it as a secondary sales portal.
There are links to how to do this, that and the other. Those things are kind of scarey, because I would rather just type incode and use ftp.
But, the main point, as I stated in my original post was that I would not be able to pay the $106 dollars until late this week, and that continuous prompting from a sales-bot would do nothing to change that.
Thank you for responding from a “noreply” server instead of a “donotreply” server. -
Hello again, I understood what you were saying in your first post. At the same time, these are technical support forums you’ve posted to so I focused on providing a solution to the problem. If you would rather just ignore the email prompts about upgrading, it’s all good. And once you upgrade, your support interactions will be directly with WordPress.com’s Happiness Engineers, either by LiveChat or email.
Since you mentioned in your reply that you just want to “type incode and use ftp,” let me also mention that FTP access is available only to Business users or higher. You can read more about that in this guide: https://wordpress.com/support/ftp-access/
In case you aren’t aware of the differences, WordPress.com (where we are ) and the WordPress open-source software are separate entities with different documentation and support forums. More information about the differences can be found here: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
Please post back here if you have more questions about this.

We appreciate the feedback.
As Justjennifer says, there’s no harm is just ignoring the emails. One thing to keep in mind is that while you may find the extra reminders annoying, given how disruptive it is to have a website go down, many many people would rather be over-reminded than risk forgetting.
And I promise you, a LOT of people still manage to forget and then frantically contact us asking why their website is down.

To clarify, my response above would apply to renewal emails. But given that I’m not seeing any upgrades associated with your account, I’m guessing that you have not purchased an upgrade yet.
In either case, just send the emails to the trash if you are not interested in them.
