Doubt deleting my wordpress.com

    Hi,

    Quick question:
I want to delete and remove from search engines my old wordpress.com blog as I still find it when I google my .org site. I’ve migrated all my content from worpress.com to .org 3 years ago and my .org is working fine, so I don’t need the .com anymore – it’s just annoying to see it still on search engines.

THE QUESTION IS: If I delete my wordpress.com, does that mean that my self-hosted site (.org) and the old content would be affected as well? Or I don’t need to worry? Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Deleting a WordPress.com site will not affect a self-hosted WordPress.org site.

If you would like to delete your WordPress.com site, there are options and instructions for doing so here:

    Delete a Website

Please bear in mind that once deleted, that site’s WordPress.com URL will become permanently unavailable for future use. If you feel that you might need that URL again in the future, you might want to choose one of the other options listed on the the page linked above.

Please let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

Thanks, I’ve just deleted it, but I still can see it on the Google search results page. Any advice?

  • It can take some time for Google to update its index, and WordPress.com doesn’t have any control over this. Over time, Google’s crawlers will realize that your site is gone and Google will update its listings. You can read more about how this works here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/search-engines/

You can try to speed things up by requesting a site removal from Google search results by following the instructions here:
