Doubts being a 1st time website builder with WP, and I am not a ‘tech geek’ thus need help!

  what is more money-saving? owning my own domain and connecting it here OR buying a domain on WP itself? also, will it be a Domain or a Sub-Domain?

  That all depends on what you prefer.

  You can purchase your domain directly here; it’s free for the first year. After that, the price will depend on the domain’s extension (TLD):
  https://wordpress.com/support/domains/domain-pricing-and-available-tlds/.

  If you have a custom domain registered elsewhere and purchased one of our paid plans, you can use that domain as your primary address for your WordPress.com site.

  You can either map it – your domain will stay with the current registrar, and you’ll need to go to their site to manage anything domain-related.

  Or you can transfer the domain to WordPress.com, and we’ll be your new registrar. This way, you’ll manage everything from one place, and you’ll be able to reach support with any domain related-issues :)
