WordPress Staff:
I downgraded my site from a paid plan back to the free tier. The system automatically changed my free URL from
jennaware.wordpress.comtojennawarecom.wordpress.com. I am on the free tier and cannot change it back. Please manually revert my site and release my originaljennaware.wordpress.comaddress back to this account. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I looked into this and jennaware.wordpress.com is currently registered to another WordPress.com account. WordPress.com addresses are tied to the account that created them and cannot be transferred between accounts.
It’s possible this may be another account you created previously.
If so, you can try recovering access using any other email addresses you may have used to sign up: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
If you are able to log in to that other account, you can free up the jennaware.wordpress.com address by changing the site address on that account to something else:
- Log in to the account that owns jennaware.wordpress.com.
- Go to Upgrades > Domains.
- Click the three dots next to jennaware.wordpress.com and select “Change site address.”
- Choose a different address for that site.
- Once released, log back in to your current account (jennawarecom.wordpress.com) and follow the same steps to change your address to jennaware.wordpress.com.
Please note that changing a site address is permanent and the old address cannot be recovered or reused: https://wordpress.com/support/changing-site-address/
One more important thing: if you do own jennawarecom.wordpress.com; DO NOT DELETE IT
These cannot be recovered.
If that address does not belong to you, here are your alternatives:
- Change your free WordPress.com address to something similar that’s available (like jennaware-blog.wordpress.com) using the same steps above.
- Register a custom domain (like jennaware.com) on any paid plan, which would give you full control over your web address. You can explore plans and pricing here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Your content, posts, and pages are all safe regardless of which option you choose. Nothing has been lost.
Let me know if you have any questions or need help with either option.
