e-book download site and hyperlink

I have set up a website that I will be using to promote and sell an e-book product. The sales process will be handled by ClickBank. When a customer buys, they receive an e-mail from ClickBank with a link to a “Thank You” page on my site that needs to contain a link to where the e-book is downloaded from. how do I store the e-book on my blog – does WordPress handle this for me?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

You can upload documents to your blog by going to Media > Add New in your dashboard.

If you want to upload it and then insert the link in a post or page on your blog, you can do that, too! We have detailed instructions for how to do that here: Uploading Documents

Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

I am following your suggestion and attempting to upload the file. It is a PDF about 2MB. The screen says it is uploading, but it hasn’t changed for about 30 minutes. I successfully uploaded some graphics files yesterday and they seemed to go pretty fast – just a few minutes. Are the uploads slow right now for any reason? It is about 10:00 pm MST. My internet connection is fairly fast – test shows about 21 MBPS download and 5 MBPS upload. however, my PDF upload seems stuck. Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    George Matthew

    Hi George,

There are various things that can cause problems for uploads, and I’d be happy to troubleshoot that with you.

First, what is the name of your PDF file? It’s usually best to stick to letters and numbers only, and sometimes the uploader has trouble with other special characters.

Also, can you try both the browser uploader and the multi-file uploader to see if one of them works better for you? We have more about those uploaders here: Multi-file vs. Browser Uploader

If that doesn’t solve the problem for you, let me know and we can keep troubleshooting. :)

    Hi Rachel-
Thanks for your follow-up and patience!

Still no luck on getting the file to upload. It is a 700K PDF – filename is EbookStopWorrying.pdf. It originally had underscores between the words in the name, but I removed those based on your suggestion, and it still does not load.

I think all I can see on the Media loading page is the drag-and-drop uploader option – I looked at the Multi-file vs. Browser link you sent and I don’t see the single-file upload option.

I have updated to WP v 3.7 so I am current there. My laptop is running Win 7 Professional.

My website that I have been working on is stopworryingreducestress.com and I am trying to upload the PDF so I can put a link to it on my page “stopworryingreducestress.com/thank”.
The way that the site is supposed to work is that a reader goes to my landing page “stopworryreducestress.com/ebook” and clicks on a link that takes them to my product on ClickBank. If the click to purchase, they complete the purchase on ClickBank and then ClickBank sends them an email with a link to my “stopworryreducestress.com/thank” page. That is the page where the purchaser would click on a download button and download the ebook. I have tested all of this flow using ClickBank’s testing procedure and everything works fine, to the point where I end on the “stopworryreducestress.com/thank” page. So, the only remaining thing to complete is the installation of the ebook on the download page and the installation of the download button.

I am particularly puzzled because I was able to upload a simple banner jpg file and place it on my landing page, and the jpg file shows on the window which I think is supposed to list my media uploads. I tried to upload another copy of the file but it would not upload.

One other thing I want to do is to hide the download page from the web engines, so that the only way a person can get to it is to click on the page link that they get by email from ClickBank. I have installed a plug-in “PC Hide Pages” to do this.

I have tried using a plug-in “Delightful Downloads” to manage the file upload process and placing a download button on the download page.

The above is what I can think of to try to fill you in on what I’m trying to do with my site. I hope it is helpful. If it would help, I can send you a copy of the PDF that I’m trying to upload, and also a copy of the JPG banner that I was able to upload earlier, but can’t seem to do so again.

    Thanks,
    George Matthew

    Hi George,

I’m sorry, I thought you were doing this on your site gdmatthew.com, hosted here at WordPress.com. Your site at stopworryingreducestress.com is a self-hosted WordPress.org site. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are different entities, which you learn more about here: WordPress.com and WordPress.org

Because your site stopworryingreducestress.com is self-hosted with a different provider, support staff like me at WordPress.com do not have access to your site’s files or the ability to provide support for your current issue.

You can find support for your self-hosted WordPress site here:

Again, sorry for not clarifying this earlier, but you should be able to get help with this at the links above. :)
