E-comm site
-
I have an active e-comm site that was built and remains active on Drupal. The e-comm platform is handled by a small niche service (VineSpring – it’s for wineries). I want to completely rebuild the site for that current domain on WordPress. I need to minimize the downtime as much as possible. What is the best method to build the site on WordPress while the Drupal site remains active until I have completed the new build, and it is ready to be activated on WordPress?

Yes :) This is a very common question. Go ahead and build your new site on WordPress.com. Import your content, customize the theme, get it all ready to launch.
Keeping the new site private will help prevent any SEO confusion since you’re going to have the same content on two different addresses.

There’s 2 ways to connect the domain. Either will work fine.
1. Mapping: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
2. Transfer: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/Write back with more questions :)
