E-mail from you saying phone recovery options changed? I didn't do it!

I received an email saying my phone recovery options had changed on my account. I just opened the account today and I don’t think I included a phone number. My blog is ciaomedia.wordpress.com. Please advise what I should do to secure my account.

    Thank you.

    1) change your email password immediately; that is usually how hackers gain access to your blog.
    2) change the blog password, too. Do this after the above.

That should make you safe. This thread is flagged for staff attention; it could be nothing, but now you’re safe anyway until they get around to looking at the account.

Hi ciaomedia, I took a look at our records, and there aren’t any signs that your account was hacked or accessed by someone else. According to our records, you entered a phone number in your account settings here: https://en.wordpress.com/?ssl=forced#!/settings/account/

Entering a number in your settings on that page will trigger the email you received. If you have any other questions or concerns about that, please let me know!

Thank you – I’m glad it was something I did and not someone else. Sorry to waste your time.

You’re welcome — it’s not a waste at all. :) We take account security very seriously, so it’s always good to check about things like this if you aren’t sure.
