E-mail login link.

What is an ‘E-mail login link’?
I received this warning: ‘Someone logged into your account with an E-mail login link.’
was advised to take action if it was not myself.
I won’t know if I did or not until I know what that term ‘E-mail login link’ means.

    Could someone enlighten me please?
    Harry.

  • Hi Harry,

There’s two ways to log into WordPress.com – typing a username/email and password, or typing a username/email and requesting a login link. That then sends a link to your email address, which you can click to log in.

Login links like this is considered very secure, as unlike a password they cannot be guessed or stolen, and only someone with access to your email account can use them. So if you suspect someone else has been able to log into your account using such a link, the first thing you should do is update your email password, and preferably also enable two-step authentication on your email.

But I don’t see any recent email login attempts on the WordPress.com account that you’re using to post here – the last time was about three months ago.
