e-mail shows up with my son's name
-
Hello:
I was working with someone already, but I could not get him what he needed to help solve my problem. My son also has a blog and when I post my blog, my husband’s message that comes over to him has my son’s name at the top, not mine. But if you go to forward it, it changes to my name. Can you please help? I have a screenshot of this now, but I don’t know how to attach it to this message. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
I don’t understand what you are saying. What messages are you referring to, and what do they have to do with your WordPress.com site?
If you upload a screen shot to your site’s media library I can view it there.

Ok, it took me while, so I hope it works. I have the screenshot in my media folder. It is dated today–9/21/2017.
If you look at the very top left side, it says LCSW Nathan Feiles.
It should say my site name which is coffeechocolateandfitme.
Does this make sense now??? -
Thanks for the screen shot.
That top section has nothing to do with us. That is your email provider’s space and it shows where the email comes from. If you receive a subscription email from us and then forward it to someone else, the other person is receiving the email from you, so their email provider will show your info, not ours. That’s how it’s supposed to work.
The email will only show our info if it’s coming directly from us, not if it’s being forwarded.

I don’t understand what you want to explain. If you send an email to someone, it shows your name at the top. That’s how email works. It’s not something we can change, as we are not your email provider.

I guess I was hoping for an answer to how this happens. Since it is not saying my name and is showing my son’s name, this is confusing to me. Are you saying I need to contact my provider even though it is going thru WordPress? As my son uses WordPress, I was assuming that they crossed in cyberspace somehow. But I am not knowledgable at this. I was hoping you could help. But I understand this might be a tricky one.

The email will only show your site’s title in the FROM field if it’s coming directly from us.
If your son receives that email from us and then forwards it someone else, it is not us sending the email but your son, so the FROM field will show his name. The fact that both of you use WordPress.com has no effect on this, as there’s no link between your email accounts and your WordPress.com accounts, we have no way to detect that it’s a WordPress.com email being sent, and even if we did we have no way of interfering and changing the email header data to influence how the FROM field displays.
There’s nothing to fix here, as there’s nothing broken. You can contact your email provider if you want, but I doubt they’ll be able to do anything either, as this is how email works.
