Editing the Home Page Appearace

Hi there
I am new to WP and I am mucking about and trying to get a site set up.
I am having massive problems trying to edit the home page so that it looks as the other pages. It doesn’t show up in the pages menu and I want to add and delete certain things as well as format a wide text box as my other pages.
Any help would be gratefully received

Editing appearance is non-trivial at WordPress.com. You are far better advised to pick a theme that does what you want rather than try to change a theme you like the look of that doesn’t do what you want.
Your Home page, for instance, isn’t a Page at all, technically speaking. It’s your Blog, and thus won’t show up on your list of Pages. Pages are static and sit outside the blog structure entirely.
We can’t tell you how to add or delete things until you tell us what those things are.
Be aware for most theme-appearance hacking at WP.com, you will require the CSS upgrade and CSS editing skills. Don’t buy the upgrade if you don’t already know how to edit CSS.

I want to change the page title text. it currently says “home” in the tab but i want it in all capitals or to changed it completely. is there a way to do this?

That’s built into the theme. You’d need a knowledge of CSS editing and the paid CSS upgrade to change it. Not all themes have that, though, so why not just choose a different theme?

I was really liking that theme though. lol. I guess I could change it. might just have to go with non cap’s. thanks for your speedy reply man!

You can get rid of the “home” tab, or have it say what you want by creating a custom menu and then create a custom link for your home page tab and label it what you wish.

Yes it will. You can choose what pages you want to include, you can include categories if you wish, you can do dropdown menus if you need to and you can add custom links such as to your website if you had one. Custom menus have great flexibility.
