editor for blind peopel using screen readers
-
I use jaws and chrome is there a authoring tool that works with these for blind people that author content?
tried markdown but the theme overides the markdown (yet, post preview shows markdown correctly)
I need to just paste into an edittor. no blocks no funny business, I know html and can write it myself.
I need an authoring tool that works like a text input control -
Hi,
What is the URL of the site you are working on?
I’m not seeing any WordPress.com accounts associated with the user account you are posting from? Is your site here on WordPress.com or is it a site built using the WordPress software from WordPress.org and hosted with another web hows?

hi,
I am blind and use jaws as assistive technology.
editing posts on wp-admin and either classic or new editor Gutenberg(block ) editor is unpredictable with jaws.
sometimes it activates and sometimes it does not.I tried jetpack with markdown
posts with markdown were previewed correctly while the actual live post was not.
it seems the text of the post or page was simply passed to a component in the theme.my site is: http://www.rhettprince.com
currently I have made pages with classic editor and pasted html text into the control.
after pasting in content it is IMPOSSIBLE to edit. with any editor.
what post editor or screen reader combination is stable in wordpress?
thanks

Hi there,
It sounds like your site rhettprince.com is not actually hosted on WordPress.com but instead is a self-hosted WordPress site hosted on GoDaddy.
To clarify, we are not the only providers of WordPress sites, and GoDaddy also happens to offer WordPress sites, but they use a different version of the platform than what we use here. Because of this we are not able to help with your issue as it lies outside of our system. See http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ for more info.
However, the good news is that there is a support forum for self-hosted sites using the wordpress.org version of the platform, and specifically they offer an accessibility forum here that may be able to help: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/accessibility/
I will defer to them since they are expert in accessibility issues on the open-source version of WordPress, but what it sounds to me is that you are pasting classic editor content into the block editor, which an lead to some odd behaviour.
With that in mind you may wish to install the “Classic Editor Plugin” here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/classic-editor/
Once this plugin is active, all posts you edit (or create as a new document) will open in the classic editor by default, and your pasting operation should work correctly here.
But again, you may wish to confer with the accessibility experts in the .org forums to confirm if this is the best course of action, since it is only a guess on my part, and we’re not able to troubleshoot further. Here is a link to that forum again: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/accessibility/
Hope this helps point you in the right direction!
