  I keep seeing a poor screen for editting and have no ability to do so. It looks like the block editor doesn’t render and I just see HTML

  Are you able to get a screen shot of what you are seeing? If so, add it to your sites’s media library so we can take a look.

  It might be helpful to try a few other things to rule out the browser or network as the problem too.

  – try clearing the cache: https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
  – try using a different browser
  – restart the internet connection
  – test it on a different internet connection
