  Hi, I thought elementor was supposed to be free with wordpress? Why does it still try to force me to upgrade my account to a business account?

  If you want to use third party plugins (and themes) on the wordpress.com platform, you must upgrade to the Business Plan. This upgrade has nothing to do with the fact a plugin is for free or not.
