  I created my wordpress account, and confirmed accepted the confirmation email. Since then my email address has not been accepting emails from anyone else. Has this happened before? I’m wondering if it has something to do with WordPress, or if it was just a coincidence.

  Are you saying that you are no longer receiving emails from WordPress.com? If so, our support page shows you how to check your Discussion Settings to see if your email notifications are enabled:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-notifications/#what-if-the-emails-are-not-getting-through
