Email address for Contact Us page and widget

    I set up the wordpress blog veritywater.wordpress.com for my son initially using my email address, (email visible only to moderators and staff). When a visitor fills out the contact us form the email was initially sent to my email address. I thought we changed it through admin for such messages to come directly to his business at “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”. However, they still come to me.

    What do we have to do to have such inquiries go to “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”?

    Hi there,

    By default, when someone submits a contact form, it will be emailed to the user who created the post or page that the contact form is on. This means that the email will go to the email address listed in your account settings here: https://wordpress.com/?ssl=forced#!/settings/account/

    This is separate from the blog admin email, which is listed under Settings > General in the blog dashboard.

    If you’d like, you can change the contact form recipient to specify the address you want the email to go to:

    1. Click the Add Contact Form button in the page editor (This will load your current contact form so you can make changes)
    2. Select the “Email notifications” tab
    3. Enter the email address you’d like the message to go to
    4. Click the “Save and go back to form builder” button
    5. Click the “Add this form to my post” button

    I did this by putting “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” into the email notification tab via the Add Contact Form button. I then tried several test messages and they are not being sent to that address, only “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”, the default address. Do I need to put both separated with a comma or do something else?

    I see there is a pending change to the email address on the log-out page. Does this relate to solving the Contact Form email notification?

    What am I not doing? Or what needs to be done to fix this as it relates directly to the functionality we expected with the site.

    Thanks for mentioning the pending change to the account email address. I do think that’s causing this glitch with the contact form. I’ve added some code to your contact form to try to force it to send the email to the correct email address.

    To completely fix this issue, I recommend either confirming or cancelling the pending change to the account email address. When you request an email address change, you will receive a confirmation email at the new address. (You may need to check your spam folder for that email.) You can click on the link in the email to confirm the new address. You can cancel the pending change and enter the new address again to have the confirmation email resent.
