Email address invalid??

I had subscribed to this blog last year and received the new posts by email as they came out. All of a sudden the emails stopped coming about 2 months ago. I contacted the author/owner of the wordpress account but he was not able to help.
When I click the “follow” tab at the bottom right corner of the page, and attempt to subscribe again, I enter my email and the following message appears: “Your subscription did not succeed, please try again with a valid email address” Trying to rectify this simple issue is very frustrating and it has lead me to somehow opening a WordPress account, and manage subscriptions, which I don’t want or need as I have no idea what it would be for. I can’t find any other WordPress support site for my email address problem other than this form to fill in. Hopefully someone can help me or direct me to the appropriate place to direct my question. Can you share the following information so that we can troubleshoot this further?
* The link to the blog you were subscribed to.
* Can you confirm that the email address you used to subscribe to the blog is the one connected to thecalbodnarWordPress.com account? (You can go to https://wordpress.com/me/account to see which email address is used on your WordPress.com account.)I ask the second question since you say that you ended up opening a new WordPress.com account. I’m trying to understand if this is the new account or the old one so that I can look up the subscriptions and email delivery logs.
Once you’ve shared the above, we’ll dig into it to see what might be happening.

Yes, confirmed that my email address (email visible only to moderators and staff) was the one I originally used to subscribe, and is the same one now registered to the wordpress account I created.
I’m not certain why I opened the account but I think it was so I could manage the settings. I didn’t realize what was involved with opening an account.
I only simply wanted to stay subscribed to the behind the yellow tape blog.
I have no idea why it stopped. I never changed anything
