Email Forwarding is Not working

  The email forwarding is not working properly. I am trying to forward the custom email addresses created at wordpress to gmail. I followed the step by step instructions (2 times), received the verify your email at my google account and yet when I sent a test email from my personal account, it did not go through. The error message I am receiving is 550 5.1 . 1 (recipient rejected). Please advise how to correct this asap!
