Email Notifications to show not Word Press.com

  Is there a way to change to ‘from’ address when subscribers get email notifications? I cant find the .php files that are referenced on the web for changing this. And don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars just to get a plug in for what is a personal website (not related to business or commerce in anyway). Thanks in advance.
