email posts lose all formatting! any way out?

  is there any way just to send a notification of new posts without sending the actual post? it arrives with all the formatting wrong.

  Yes, don’t use Post by Email, use Windows Live Writer.

  I’m sorry, i’m new at this (and old, at that) but I was referring to the subscription widget that allows people to follow your blog. I thought subscribers would just get a link to the new post but instead they get the entire post which arrives with the formatting all messed up. Is there another way to alert subscribers without sending out the entire blog? Many thanks.

  You can change the setting on Settings->Reading:

  For each article in a feed, show
  Full text
  Summary

  You want to pick Summary.

  Many thanks, raincoaster. . . greatly appreciated. . . just couldn’t figure this one out. . . took me an entire day to figure out how to make my posts appear in chapters like a book and make the list of chapters!

  Some people never get that far. Computer things are so oddly specific, and there’s no particular reason to think an RSS setting would affect your emails. It’s just one of those things we old-timers have memorized.
