email shows wrong name from contact form 7

    When my Contact Form 7 sends an email, the receiving account (my wife’s email) lists the name of a deceased co-owner of our original GoDaddy account. They looked around, and suspect his name is buried somewhere in the WordPress database, but want $50 to see if they can fix it. It comes to her Thunderbird email program as “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”.

    It is somehow address-book-related, seeing as how I changed my wife’s main PC’s Thunderbird address book name from “his name” to “website client” and left the address “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” alone. (This is a required address.) However, on her Apple tablet and phone the “from” column entry in her email client comes in as “his name.”

    Is there any way I can reach into whatever WordPress stores this in, and change it? I suspect he would agree with me that, as a form of immortality, this isn’t much!

    I’m afraid that we can’t help with this. Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with GoDaddy.

    Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites hosted elsewhere; we can only assist with sites hosted on our servers. You can read more about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com here:

    I would never expect you guys to work on a different host’s files. What I DO expect and request is some guidance on how I can fix the problem myself. How would I go about it? What should I look for, and where? After all, it’s your software, so you are the best people to ask.

    And BTW, are you with the .com group or the .org group? How do I go about contacting the group which can help? (A link would be very helpful.)
