email when mapping a domain

  Hello, I have an existing domain that i would like to map to my wordpress blog. I have purchased the 13dollar quote to redirect my domain to this blog. My domain registar says if i change DNS details to WordPress DNS i would loose my email account. Is it possible not to loose my email account? how can i do this in order not to loose it?

  Hi Marina,

  Does your domain registrar offer email service that you can use even if you point your domain to WordPress.com? You can ask them for the DNS records for their email service with a message like this:

  I need to point my domain to WordPress.com’s name servers, to host my website there. Could you please provide me with the complete MX and/or other DNS records I will need to enter on WordPress.com’s end, so that my email on this domain will function?

  If your domain registrar provides those details, I can help you enter them here at WordPress.com (or you can enter them using our guide to Add Email through other providers). That way you can keep using your email there.

  If that isn’t an option, you can Add Email from a different email provider or use our Email Forwarding service. Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)
