Emails not working!
-
Hi there, I’ve been trying to sort out mail notifications on WordPress for some time now. Has anyone else had issues trying to change the address of the admin and the mail notifications not coming through WP to your mail client? I use a third party email provider and they’ve confirmed that there are no blocks on the account, they’re allowing all mail through and that there is something wrong with WP settings.
Please help!

Hi there, which email notifications are you not receiving since changing the Admin email address? Contact form feedback? Comment notifications? Reader subscriptions? Site notifications?
Please let us know and on which website this is happening on. Thanks.

Thank you so much for your message. So this is the situation:
First issue: Someone built the site for me. Their email is the admin email. I’m also an admin and have tried to change it, but I’m not getting the email notification to confirm. He tried changing it yesterday (I thought he might have had a notification) and it still didn’t work. However, changing it to a hotmail or gmail account seems to work fine, just not the webmail I’ve paid for (I’ve got a third party handling my emails). I spoke to them yesterday too, and they have lifted all restrictions and blocks and have whitelisted the whole of WP. They say now there is nothing wrong on their end and that it’s a block from WP.
This became glaring when I was sorting out the WPForms – issue two! When I filled out the forms and set them up, they’re supposed to send a notification to the email address that you input on the site. They didn’t. I mailed WPForums guys (I’ve paid for a Pro version, so all features are included) and they suggested it was the SMTP settings with the third party – which it wasn’t because I checked and everything is fine. They then suggested I try a plugin called WPMail SMTP – which I did and that still didn’t work. Just to clarify, they said that I’d set up the form’s fields wrong in some places, but that they had amended that and it was fine. They couldn’t offer any more help.
It seems that ALL mail from the site isn’t coming through to me; be it forms, contact or otherwise, but it’s only WP. I get mail from everywhere else.
I’m by no means technical at all, so I’m trying to figure this out, but I am out of ideas now. Thank you so much for your help in advance.

Hi,
Can you share the URL of your website?
I’m not seeing any WordPress.com sites associated with the user account you are posting from. This frequently means that you have a site using the open source WordPress software, but hosted elsewhere.
We’re only able to provide support for WordPress websites that are hosted by us here at WordPress.com. For help with a WordPress site hosted elsewhere you’ll need to ask over at the WordPress.org forums:
https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Your webhost’s support team may also be able to assist.
If you want to know more about the differences between WordPress.com and the open-source WordPress software you can read this article:

Hi there, you’re right. I’m hosting this on HostGator, emails are provided by a different provider (eUKhost)! So you’re absolutely right. The url is http://www.checkpointmagazine.com.
I know it’s not the emails; I checked the Checkpoint domain against all email blacklists, and it’s not listed, so this doesn’t look to be the issue: https://mxtoolbox.com/SuperTool.aspx?action=blacklist%3acheckpointmagazine.com&run=toolpage
So if I am going back to my host, what do I need to tell them? What do they need to do?

Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Your hosting provider’s support team may also be able to assist, and in this case I recommend reporting it to them exactly as you reported it to us. :)
