  Can only a summary of the post be emailed out?

  Hi there,

  You can change this under Settings ->Reading in the WP-admin dashboard. Set the Feed setting from Full Post to Summary:

  https://ourmiddleagedgapyear.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php

  This will not affect how posts display on your site. To show only excerpts on your site’s front page you need to select the Excerpt option under Content Options in the Customizer, or you can use the More Tag to control this on a post by post basis.
