Embedded Photographs

  • Unknown's avatar

I just noticed yesterday, (10-27-2013), that, sometime within the last three weeks, the embedded photographs that are on both of my WordPress websites, do not show as images; they are displayed as long URL addresses. (I use Photobucket as my image hosting site. I have paid for a “Pro” account with Photobucket). I have tried all that has been suggested in your help section, (deleting the cache and cookies, and using other web browsers as a test; my default is Chrome.), but the problem still exists. Right now, I am VERY stressed at this situation, and I need help in straightening it out.

My websites are: http://www.blacklabadventures.com and http://www.sonex1504.com

    Thank you!

    Hi Barry,

I see what you mean! I’m checking with my team to see if a change on our end might have caused this problem. Can you let me know how you added the photos to your websites? For example, did you paste the URL for the image directly into the post editor, or did you use the “Add Media” button? That will help us investigate the issue for you!

    Hello rachelmcr,
Thank you very much for responding to my post. To answer your question, I went back to my “blacklab” site and hit the “edit” button on one of my articles, (http://blacklabadventures.com/2012/11/12/black-lab-adventures-2012-charity-fundraiser/). This article was the last one I have posted to my site.

How I embedded the photos was to, copy the “Direct Link”, (One of the “menu choices” underneath each photograph I have hosted on PB.), from Photobucket and paste it into the body of my article on my WordPress site. That process has worked perfectly for me, for both of my sites. It was a coincidence in me checking one of the articles that got me going, “Hmmmmmm”. That was about two days ago. The last time I was on my sites was about three weeks ago, and everything was fine. So, something has happened, somewhere within that time frame.

FYI- My default browser is Chrome. Before beginning this thread, I also tried Mozilla Firefox and came up with the same results. I also tried viewing both sites with my Nexus 7 tablet, and again, came up with the same results. Your remark that you are seeing the same thing confirms that there is an issue somewhere between WordPress, Photobucket, or my service provider, (Brilliant deduction, huh? ;-) )

    Thank you for your help!

    Barry

    Hi Barry,

Thanks for that additional information. :) I reported this issue to our team, and we’re looking into it to see what’s causing the problem. I’ll let you know as soon as I have more information about it!

    Well Rachel,
May I take you out to dinner? You may order anything that you heart desires! Paying for that would be faaaaar cheaper than all of the time it would have taken me to re-embed them again! (Oh, I was sooo dreading that is what I was going to hear from you, as an answer.).

So, what do you say, lobster, caviar, fillet mignon, a little champaign to celebrate?

Please give my best to your team for helping me out!

    Sincerely,

    Barry
