EMERGENCY HELP NEEDED!

  • Unknown's avatar

I accidentally did something stupid and now have this message and nothing else on my website.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/content/17/8739917/html/wp-content/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/includes/gutenberg/headline-tool/headline-tool.php on line 3

    How can I fix this?

PS I am not a tech person

  • Hi there,

This is an issue with https://broughttohisknees.wordpress.com/ yes? When I visit your site it appears to be online to me.

Is this issue with another site? broughttohisknees.wordpress.com is the only site I see under your WordPress.com account as you can confirm at the link I added here.

Is it possible you created your site under a different login? Is it the case that you are using another provider like GoDaddy, Bluehost, Hostgator, etc. instead? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?

Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.

LOL No. My site is http://sabrinayork.com/

I was involved with the other one YEARS ago but it’s not my site.

And yes, I am talking to GoDaddy. Looks like I’m on their old server and can’t upgrade my PHP until I upgrade to the new server.

    So, that’s a thing…

BTW Thanks for the quick response! Very kind of you.

  • Thanks for the additional info, I can confirm that is a GoDaddy website.

To clarify, we are not the only providers of WordPress sites, and GoDaddy also happens to offer WordPress sites, but they use a different version of the platform than what we use here. In this case our service does not have error messages such as you have shared here, and because of this we are not able to help with your issue as it lies outside of our system. See http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ for more info.

You may wish to contact your host’s support team for more assistance. Generally speaking if a plugin is causing issues on your site (such as the google-analytics-for-wordpress plugin noted in your error message) deactivating the plugin will restore your site to normal functionality. This can be done if you have direct access to the server your site is on, and GoDaddy can help with that issue.

You can also contact the makers of your plugin here, so they can take a closer look at the error code and possibly offer a fix: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/google-analytics-for-wordpress/

Hope that points you in the right direction!
