'enable comment reply via email' box is not available for me to tick

Why is the ‘enble sending comment reply via email’ option not available for me to tick under settings/ discussion ? it just is not there as shown on the help pages/video. I have the box ’email me whenever anyone posts a comment’ ticked.
When I try to reply to comment notification emails it does not work.
I would like to be able to reply to people leaving a comment, without loging into wordpress Also I would like the person that commented to receive my reply by email as well as it appearing on my blog.
Can you advise please?

It’s actually enabled by default on all blogs, you can send a comment reply via email at any time.
Which help page did you see it on?

I just have sent a reply to one of the ‘please moderate’ emails I recieve in my inbox ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) However,the email address that comes up is : (email visible only to moderators and staff). Will this really work?
In the ‘please moderate email’ there is no ‘reply’ button as there was in the email you just sent me. The only button is ‘approve’ in additon to ‘trash’ and ‘mark as spam’.

Right, you could never reply to those. You have to take action to moderate the comment first (approve, delete, spam, etc).
If you approve the comment, you’ll receive a notification email that you have a new comment, and that’s the email you can reply to.
