Entered the incorrect email at registration

  Hi,

  I entered the wrong email while setting up a new account for a friend and now I cannot log in as the account requires activation.

  Incorrect account: (email visible only to moderators and staff)
  Correct account: (email visible only to moderators and staff)

  Any assistance is much appreciated!!!

  Hi there,

  An account does not need to be activated in order to log in. As long as you know the password you should be able to log in using the wrong email address, or the username you selected.

  Once you’re logged in, go to https://wordpress.com/me/account/ and update the email. That will trigger a new verification email to the new, correct email address.

  Thanks so much for the reply kokkieh!

  So, while I was still logged in after creating the account (with the wrong email), I did change the email address. The verification email was sent to the correct email.

  It said, “Hi there,

  We recently received a request to change the email address for the WordPress.com user ecolivingamber from (email visible only to moderators and staff) (incorrect email) to (email visible only to moderators and staff) (correct email).

  If this is correct, please click on the following link to change it:”

  I clicked it (mind you in a different browser, one I wasn’t logged in on) and it told me to log in. When trying w/ the new email, the correct one, it said, there wasn’t an account for that email. So I tried the old, incorrect one. It said,

  “This account hasn’t been activated yet — check your email for a message from WordPress.com and click the activation link. You’ll be able to log in after that.”

  To complicate matters, I tried logging in with Google using the correct email and instead of logging me in, it created another account. So I deleted it and it said I couldn’t create another account for 30 days with that email.

  I’m at a loss for what to do here.

  Hi there,

  Here’s how to fix this. Reply to the account closure email and ask us to restore that account. Then you’ll be able to release the email from that account and use it on the correct account. In your message please include a link to this forum thread.
