Error code: 500 – website is down
-
Our website (and dashboard) at http://malvernbooks.com/ appear to be down. When I visit the site (on both Chrome and Internet Explorer) I get the following error:
“The website encountered an error while retrieving http://malvernbooks.com/. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
Error code: 500″The website has been down for most of the afternoon. Earlier today, I accepted several updates (whatever updates WordPress suggested in the dashboard at the top left of the screen). The updates appeared to go smoothly, although I didn’t try to load the site again until this afternoon. Could the updates be what caused the problem? How can I remedy this now, given that I don’t have access to the dashboard?
I write for the website, but did not set it up, and do not have access to the host. If the error is with the site’s host, I will need to ask one of my colleagues to address the problem.
Thanks for your help.
