Error: Please check your Primary Site’s Jetpack connection
-
Hey All, I’m unable to resolve the ‘Please check your Primary Site’s Jetpack connection’ error on a site that was never published and been dormant for about a year. All posted instructions about reconnecting, disconnecting and then reconnection and even uninstalling and reinstalling don’t appear to work.
-
Hi, can you let us know what site you’re referring to? I see one Jetpack site on this account, but if I visit that address I just get an error.
-
HI, thanks for your help! Yes, that is another confusing part of this issue. In my admin portal the website is http://2k9.6a1.myftpupload.com/ which doesn’t appear to work. At some previous time it appears as if this URL http://0ng.45f.myftpupload.com/ was the one we were using to review and that one does work. But, I cannot get access to http://0ng.45f.myftpupload.com/

Ok, that would be the problem. Jetpack can’t access the site if it’s offline, but we can’t help with getting the site back online.
Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.
Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
Your hosting provider’s support team may also be able to assist.

Hmmm…now even more confused. Are you saying both of those URLs are WordPress.org or only the http://0ng.45f.myftpupload.com/? We have our domain and hosting through GoDaddy, but I thought….myftpupload.com was a WordPress.com temporary hosting for creation prior to publishing.
And despite the answer to that question, when I’m on my wordpress.com site which has the http://2k9.6a1.myftpupload.com/ site in my list of sites I get the Jetpack error and not able to do anything due to that error.
-
Both URLs are WordPress.org and hosted elsewhere.
Jetpack cannot connect to http://2k9.6a1.myftpupload.com because that site is not online, and that’s not something we can directly assist with.
You should contact your hosting provider’s support to get that site back online.
Once that site is online, Jetpack will be able to connect with it.
