Can I move my existing blog at wordpress.org over to the wordpress.com free blog host ?
-
Hi there,
You can, yes. You can find a guide outlining the different steps here:

thank you Kikkieh,
So can you tell me a little about this before I do it?
I want to make sure that this is free hosting.
Right now I am at go daddy and they are charging me $14 a month to host this blog I have at wordpress.org.
I dont really use it much but want to keep it live.
What is the difference between . org and .com?
Will I need a host or are you the host and does it cost anything ?
Sorry for all the questions. Im just not very tech savvy.
What go daddy did was, charged me to host my other website I had with smug mug who already hosts the site and go daddy charged me for hosting it when it was already hosted. Trying to upsell me and I fell for it because I didnt know any better. anyway, just dont want to make any mistakes because as you know this is not easy. -
Hi, here’s the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org:
Basically WordPress.com is a service that includes hosting, SSL, and security, maintenance, and support for the WordPress software which we provide in our hosting.
WordPress.org is the community about the free WordPress software, which you can use with a different hosting service. Most hosting services will give you installers, and some provide basic maintenance. Otherwise you would provide your own security and maintenance, and would look the community and online resources for any support you need — or there are companies that you can hire to take care of that for you.
Smugmug users sometimes like to have a site / blog here, and a subdomain pointing to their smugmug account. Would that work well for you?

Not sure that I understand that last sentence . :(
What is a sub domain?
I have my domains at go daddy andgodaddy is hosting my blog at wordpres.org. If I put my blog onto wordpress.com what will it cost.? -
Hi there,
What is a sub domain?
A subdomain is something like this:
yoursite.wordpress.com. This means that your site is will be hosted on a sub-domain of the WordPress.com domain.I have my domains at go daddy andgodaddy is hosting my blog at wordpres.org. If I put my blog onto wordpress.com what will it cost.?
To be able to use your custom domain on WordPress.com you’ll need to purchase one of our paid plans:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
If you stick with the Free plan you’ll only be able to use a .wordpress.com subdomain with your site.

thank you I appreciate the answers. Its taking me some time because I work two jobs but I am anxious to get my website over to wordpress.com.

No problem at all. Just noting too, the subdomain option I was referring to would be something more like
blog.youractualdomain.comif that makes sense. Or, if you wanted have the whole site here but keep a SmugMug site too, you could havephotos..youractualdomain.comfor example. Those are subdomains, too, and if you have a paid plan you’ll have some options to use.
