existing domain name

  Hi,

  I currently have a joomla site running from a hosting service, smart artist. I want to upgrade my website and want to use a wordpress template to do so.

  I own a domain name and want to keep it… Is it possible to keep the domain name if I move across to wordpress?

  Does wordpress host the site on its servers?

  You can keep your domain name no matter what you do – as noted above there are TWO versions of WordPress a WordPress.ORG install or a WordPress.COM blog (here) – if you move here then yes your site is on WordPress.COM servers – if you do a .ORG install then it is on your servers

  What you do depends a lot on what you want to do with the site – there are Terms of Service here that you need to be aware of (you can’t put your own ads on the site for instance or do e-commerce here)
