existing email address and DNS mapping to WordPress
-
I am in the middle or creating a Website with WordPress. For that matter, I need to map the DNA I have with another registrar onto WordPress.
What do I need to do that? does the DNS need to be unlocked or free of any protection?
Do i ween an authorisation code?
Is there any downtime involved?
what hapen to the email address in that original registrar? do we need to do any thing to it? is there any downtime in emailing when mapping? if yes, of how long?
Thank you.The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi –
I am going to outline the instructions for mapping your domain to your WordPress.com user account.
First, you need to add the personal plan to your account. Those details are at https://wordpress.com/pricing/
Once that’s done, you can click on My Sites – Manage – Domains – Add New
After that, you’re mapping will be set up on our end. The next step is to go back to your domain provider and ask them to update the name servers to point the domain to WordPress.com. Those details are step #2 on this guide:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
Do i ween an authorisation code?
No authorization codes are needed for domain mapping.
Is there any downtime involved?
Yes. Anytime you make DNS changes there could be down time involved. Mapping can take up to 72 hours to become fully activated.
what hapen to the email address in that original registrar?
Do you know any more about how it’s setup? Is it through a program or CNAME?
