Expired Blog

    Hello,
I was hosting my blog through Bluehost using the domain name pantlesssundays.com.
My domain name has expired, and now my entire blog has disappeared. I would really love to move my blog to be hosted by wordpress. Is there anyway to restore my blog that the domain has expired? I had tons of good writings in there that I would like to see again. Is the entire blog really just gone?

  • Hi there,

You can migrate your site’s content to a new site on WordPress.com, yes:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/

But in order to get an export of your content, you’ll first need to get the original site back online, and if it was hosted with Bluehost, only they can help you with that.

New Bluehost sites come with a temporary staging domain, so perhaps they can reactivate your site at such a domain, or else they might require you to buy a new domain to bring the site back online.

This also depends on whether or not your site’s files are even still on Bluehost’s servers. If they deleted those files when your hosting expired, and they don’t have any backups of the site on their system any more, then there might not be a way to get your content back again.
