Expired Domain

    I accidentally allowed my domain name to expire and now it’s in the Redemption Period. Can I get it back and if so how can I do this?

    I checked and you’re right – tnsow.com is now in a redemption period. You can still renew your domain through us, but it is now a more expensive and complicated process to do so. Our registrar charges an $80 late renewal fee in addition to the $26 we charge to renew the domain. The good news is that this is still a chance of reclaiming the domain through this option.

    Your other option is to wait until the redemption period is over so that the domain becomes available for registration again. Domains are usually in redemption for approximately 80 days, but with this option, you run
    the risk of someone else jumping in front of you to purchase the domain before you get the chance.

    Please let me know if you want to proceed with paying the late renewal fee in the attempt to reclaim the domain name. This option is also time sensitive because the domain can be auctioned off to an expired domain bidder.

    I would suggest enabling the auto-renew option so that you will not have to worry about losing control over your domain in the future.

    I’ll be happy to contact the registrar to see if we can restore tnsow.com to your account, but I cannot guarantee that we will be able to get the domain back. If I am successful, I can send you a manual payment request form for you to repurchase the domain.

    Oh, that’s great — thanks so much. Will I receive an invoice or something for the renewal? Is it hiding somewhere in my wordpress account?

    It might have gone to the wrong email — there was an old one in the back end of the site (which is probably why I didn’t get the notification about the domain expiring too). I’ve updated that now if you want to resend, or you can send it to (email visible only to moderators and staff)

  • We did send it to that email you mentioned. Did you check your spam folder? It sometimes end up there.
