Expired Domain

Restore old content?
Is that possible? I let my Domain expire 2 years ago and it’s available for me to buy back. I was hoping it was magically saved somewhere because it’s 2017!
Maybe!?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there, if the site you are referring to was hosted here on WordPressdotcom, the domain expiration would not have deleted the content of the WordPressdotcom site. The site would have simply reverted to its original underlying WordPressdotcom URL.
Since there is no content on meatandpaprika.wordpress.com, do you mean it was on a different WordPressdotcom URL? If you click on the “MY SITES” link in the upper left corner of the screen and then click “switch sites” do you see it there?
If not, is it possible your site was hosted someplace else other than here on WordPressdotcom? If so, we don’t keep backups here of sites hosted someplace else.

If your site happened to be meatandpaprika.com there is some content cached for that particular site from 2013 onwards in the Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20160101000000*/https://meatandpaprika.com/

JustJennifer:
I tried the “mysites” button and couldn’t find any of the content there either. It was “hosted” by Justhosts.com. I don’t own the domain right now. Should I buy the domain through Justhosts? Would they have it backed up somewhere.
Also apologize if I’m not making sense. I’m still so illiterate when it comes this this. -
So I can see the written content. No pictures or anything will load.
I don’t think it’s possible, but if I get the domain back will it just go back to the site it was?
Or am I starting fresh?
There was another site on MeatandPaprika.com in between. -
Hi meatandpaprika,
It was “hosted” by Justhosts.com
meatandpaprika.com was a self hosted WordPress.org site rather than a WordPress.com site, which is why it was hosted elsewhere.
Should I buy the domain through Justhosts?
If your site is hosted with Just Host, you may want to buy the domain through them in order to keep everything in one place.
The other option is to register the domain through WordPress.com and point it towards your Just Host site.
In terms of the content, there are two options:
1. Make a manual copy of the content using the cached link @themagicrobot linked to. This content can then be copied and pasted into a new site.
2. Contact Just Host to see if they still have a backup of your site. This will depend on whether you are still paying the hosting cost or not. If you aren’t, it’s unlikely they would have a backup after 2 years. If you are, there’s a chance there may still be a backup.
Either way, I think you should contact Just Host first to see if there is anything they can do to help you recover the content.
