Expired Domain

I let my domain expire. After trying to transfer my domain from GoDaddy, it says it is unable to start the transfer. Is there anyway I can still restore it?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

    Are you speaking of ladlefullofcomfort.com?

That domain is not expired. It’s registered with GoDaddy.com, and Whois indicates it will only expire in April 2021.

What did expire is the Personal Plan and domain mapping upgrade which you’d used to connect the domain to your WordPress.com site. You can restore those by going to My Site ->Plans and buying a new plan. Then you can add a new domain mapping upgrade at My Site ->Manage ->Domains.

If you’d prefer to completely transfer the domain to us, so you renew it here rather than at GoDaddy in future, you can do that as well. Your domain appears to be unlocked for transfer, and our system shows the EPP code you’ve tried to use is valid, so from our end I see nothing that would prevent a transfer.

However, in Whois I do see your domain was updated on 10 June. If you made a change to your domain’s contact information, the domain might now be subject to a 60-day mandatory ICANN transfer lock. GoDaddy support will be able to confirm that for you.

If that’s the case you won’t be able to transfer the domain to us until that lock is lifted, but you will still be able to map it here like you had before.
