expired domain; user approved to renew no longer with organization

Our domain expired. It says that it can be renewed by a particular user, but that user is no longer with our organization and I don’t have access to the log in information for that user. How can I get all access for this domain transferred to my user account.

Is it possible to get in touch with the user who is no longer with the organization? That is really the best bet in gaining access to the account and renewing the domain.
