Expired domain, what do I do now?

  I had a domain which I purchased through altervista and hosted on wordpress.org. It has expired and I cannot access the admin dashboard to renew it. What should I do? Have all the contents in my website been deleted permanently?

  We can’t help you as your site isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform. You must contact your registrar to solve the domain problem. Regarding the content on your site, if you or your hosting didn’t make a proper backup I’m afraid all content is lost forever.

  There should be a backup on the admin dashboard itself, is that good?

  Hi there,

  Only your hosting provider can give you a backup of your data as your site’s files were hosted on their servers.

  Alternatively, you can search for a cached version of your site on the Internet Archive and download your contents from there.
