Exporting a blog

    My daughter has a blog that she wrote in 2015 and I want to make it into a book for her birthday. Is there a way that I can download the material and keep the pictures?

    Hi there,

    What is the address of the site in question? Your options will differ depending on whether it’s a WordPress.com site or a WordPress site hosted somewhere else.

    For a WordPress.com site, we only offer a machine-readable .xml file as export. That file contains links to images in the site’s media library, but not the images themselves, and is not in a printable format.

    To make a printable version of the blog, you’ll need to use a service like FastPencil or Blogbooker which converts that file into the proper format for you. See:

    Also note that only an admin on a site can export content, so you’ll either need to be added as an admin on your daughter’s site, or have access to her account. We cannot provide someone who isn’t an admin on a site with an export file under any circumstances.
