Exporting posts from WordPress to Squarespace

  We need to export the XML file from WordPress in order to transfer the posts to Squarespace, but since we recently transferred the domain from WordPress to Squarespace, the website (with all of the posts) is not showing up.

  (It was previously on WordPress.com and now we get redirected to a blank website on Squarespace.)

  We have backup files from WordPress, but the Squarespace tech told us that we need the XML file.

  Hello there,

  Many thanks for that additional information.

  We can’t see that this domain was on WordPress.com and may have been using self-hosted WordPress.

  I can see the name servers are set to point to one.com – was the site originally hosted there?

  Hi,

  Our site was originally hosted through bluehost and we’re in the process of transferring it to Squarespace.

  When we asked bluehost about the XML file (as requested by Squarespace), they told us to contact WordPress.com

  Hi there,

  To clarify, we are not directly connected to Bluehost (they are an independent provider of WordPress site) and they happen to use a different version of the WordPress software from the custom version we use exclusively on WordPress.com.

  I believe that the support agent that was helping you may be confused about this distinction, because we are unable to help.

  However, the good news is the version of the WordPress software that Bluehost uses does have support available, but it is at wordpress.org, not wordpress.com.
