exporting WP to Network solutions for MAC

  Help, not a computer person so would like a fairly easy way to export my WP blog to Network solutions my websites server. NS does not have any info in doing this. Anyone?

  First off, you would have to install the software from wordpress.ORG into the account over at network solutions. You have to check and see if they even support wordpress there first. If they don’t, then the export file really won’t do you any good. You can’t “import” it into a normal HTML website.

  If they do support it, once you install and configure the wordpress software, then you can go to tools > export in your dashboard here, export the site (all content) to your desktop and then at tools > import on the new site, import the that file. I believe before you do the import, you will have to search out and install the wordpress import plugin since that stuff is not included as part of the base installation anymore.

  Also, any questions or problems to do with your new wordpress.ORG installation will have to be asked over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where self-hosted wordpress installations are supported.

  thank you very much. I had some problems but finally it worked. It downloaded no problem. However, the theme I was using on WP and I want to keep is COMET
  when it downloaded to Network Solutions for some reason it will not allow you to change background which is the whole reason why I chose that theme in the first place…..very frustrating. It’s offerd on WP but not on NS? I’m now trying to find out why.

  The themes at wordpress.com are modified to support features here that are not in the self-hosted themes, but you have free access to the CSS so you can change the background that way. You will need a little expertise with CSS, but there are a number of tutorials out there to get you started.

  You have to INSTALL themes on a self-hosted site. You have to find them and then upload them/install them.

  Ok, three posts to get it all down. Network Solutions provides the hosting. Everything else is on YOU. They don’t provide themes.
