Facebook Publicize links read "Protected Blog"
-
Beginning yesterday, using Publicize, my Facebook links indicate “protected blog” and go to the wrong WordPress.com blog (i.e., the “Protected Blog” link goes to my old WordPress blog at 1hoag.wordpress.com rather than DrHGuy.com). I’ve tried disconnecting and reconnecting my Facebook connection without effecting any change.. I’ve also run my URL through Facebook’s debugger tool but this didn’t fix the problem. I have been able to manually create Facebook links by entering the post url directly on Facebook.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Can you please try connecting your Facebook account from this page:
https://drhguy2.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=sharing
Let me know how that works out.
Cheers!

I did see that there was an error with your FB Publicize post before. Did you recently change your Facebook password, de-authorize your app or log out of Facebook? This can cause this error.
As for actually posting from a different WordPress.com site would be a different error. If that happens, can you please leave the test post so that we can see the error? Or, please take a screenshot of the error and then upload that to your Media > Library page. It’s a bit difficult without seeing the error in action.
Thank you and so sorry for the inconvenience.

The last time I changed my FB password was 3-4 weeks ago. (Before yesterday, Publicize worked without problems.) I have not de-authorized my app.
I’ve uploaded a screenshot of a typical error from yesterday to http://drhguy.com/?attachment_id=49184. Note that the “Protected Blog – Log In” link goes to http://1hoag.wordpress.com. The post title itself (i.e., “When you recognize that you’re living in this incredibly privileged, tiny pocket of mankind, where there is the luxury to discuss these questions, one dare not complain — except in a good, sad song Leonard Cohen”) links to the correct site (i.e. http://drhguy.com/2014/06/04/when-you-recognize-that-youre-living-in-this-incredibly-privileged-tiny-pocket-of-mankind-where-there-is-the-luxury-to-discuss-these-questions-one-dare-not-complain-except-in-a-good-sad-son/)
Thanks for your help

Hi there,
Currently I see that you set your account website to:
which is the one that showing up. Please go to User > Personal Settings and set it to:
drhguy.com
Let me know if that changes this.
Thank you!
-
Well, it sounded like a great idea to me – but changing that setting had no effect on the problem.
-
Ok. Try it now. Also, just in case can you please try clearing out your cache and cookies using the guide below?
Thanks

Can you please leave the test post so I can see exactly what’s happening? I’ll try and get back to you as soon as possible so it’s not up for too long.
Thank you.

Sorry – I missed this message. A test post is not on my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ashowalter1

I didn’t understand that last post. Can you please explain?
As before, can you please leave up the post with that issue on Facebook and I can take a look.

I still have the same problem
See https://www.facebook.com/ashowalter1/activity/10203921622702261 -
It looks like the Facebook Share Cache needs to be flushed. So please try this in this order:
1) Disconnect the Facebook Publicize connection
2) Flush the Facebook Share Cache by putting the link: http://drhguy.com/ here:https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug
You can find more information here:
http://www.gavick.com/magazine/quick-tip-1-how-to-clear-the-facebook-share-cache.html
3) Reconnect the Facebook Publicize connection
That should do it. Let me know how that works out.

I had tried this before (see my original note). I did the debugging process again as you prescribed. The same problem continues. I’ve posted another test (“Please Ignore – This Is Another Test 2”) – see https://www.facebook.com/ashowalter1/activity/10203921789746437
-
What link did you enter when you debugged it and also did you do it in that exact order? This would have to be done after we changed the site in your Personal Settings, so the error would persist if the only time you did this was before the first message in this thread.
-
I apologize for the frustration – I thought the “again” in my last message (” I did the debugging process again as you prescribed. The same problem continues.”) indicated I had repeated the process when you suggested it. I can see how the other information may have been confusing. In any case, …
After your instructions were received, I disconnected the Facebook Publicize connection. Then I entered “http://drhguy.com/” at https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug and executed that process. Then I reconnected the Facebook Publicize connection. Now, I still have the same problem.
-
Ah – sorry about this. I thought that would fix it. Thanks for the trying though! I have brought this back to my team for further investigation.
I will get back to you as soon as I hear back.
Thanks!
