Facebook ‘referrer’ showing up in stats even though I have no FB connected

I am seeing on my stats page that I have people ‘referred from Facebook’ even though I have no facebook connected to my blog. Where are the facebook views coming from?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @ksloves, actually that can show up if someone else found a post they liked and shared it from their Facebook wall. If you still have questions on this, let us know!

Also, if you need to upload a screenshot, you can do that at wordpress.com/media, and just let us know what you’ve uploaded there.

Hi! Okay so does that mean someone on their Facebook wall is sharing a post of mine on my blog?

  • Yes, this means that someone posted a link to one of your posts on their Facebook wall or someone shared your post on Facebook through the share buttons at the bottom of the post.

You can read more about how customize or even disable those share buttons here:

    Add Social Share Buttons

I am totally fine with this (it’s cool, in fact!) but I’d love to know who and see where my post is floating around on Facebook. Could it be an email subscriber? Can I search my blog name in the Facebook search bar?

    Thank you for your help!!

    Hi ksloves,

While stats show Facebook as a referrer, they don’t provide any information about who shared the post. You could try searching Facebook for the name of your blog or post but there won’t be any way to tie that exact share to stats information here :)

Email subscribers would show as a different referrer, so those people wouldn’t be included in the number of Facebook referrers.
