Failed installation: Cannot create the directory.

    Hi, I am using wordpress for my website https://breezymodels.ml/
    I finisced now to move from Infinityfree that is a free website hosting service to a laptop with Ubuntu installed. Everything works fine apart a thing, when I try to update or install a plugin i insert the password for the FTP account and get this error: “Failed installation: Cannot create the directory.”

    Can the problem be that on Infinityfree the folder of the wordpress install was named htdocs and on this laptop is called wordpress? Can somebody help me?

    Hello, I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your website. However, your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted elsewhere.

    To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/

    WordPress.org has complete documentation for self-hosted/installed versions of WordPress.org at https://wordpress.org/support/ and support at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

    With that said, I recommend contacting your hosting provider’s support about this.
