Failed to cancel account and auto renewal.

    I was charged the premium account fee of $129 when I have no existing sites or purchases under the account. I attempted to cancel my entire account before the auto renewal but failed to do so and was still charged for a service I don’t even use. I would like to delete any affiliation with wordpress.com and would like a refund.

    I received an email saying that this is the account (ingramsam) that was charged for the premium service. I have no other exisiting account with wordpress.com

    That’s the whole point of my request. There is no purchases or account information that exists, so why am I getting charged? Hence why I need to cancel right away

  • Your credit card information must’ve been used in association with upgrades under a different account. You can find out more information about those charges here:

    Why was I charged?

    If you get the specifics on what you were charged for, I can find the charge for you and refund them. If you have any idea what upgrades were renewed, that would help me find them as well (for example, a domain URL).

    I tried searching for the purchase made on the date and using the same credit card and it couldn’t find anything. All I have is the email saying that the premium plan (for a site that doesn’t even exist), will renew on march 11 and will be charged $129. I checked with my domain provider if I have any affiliation with wordpress.com and they say said I don’t. My domain, email service and hosting is all manage via another company.

    I have no other wordpress.com accounts so no other purchases would of been made.

    To run a site via ‘wordpress.org’ privately, using a domain, email service and private hosting, does that somehow tie into wordpress.com in any way? From my understanding it shouldn’t.

  • Correct, it should not. Maybe the charge is from your hosting company? $129 isn’t a common charge from us. Under your bank account description, our charges always have WPCHARG along with a phone number on them. If it doesn’t have that, I don’t believe the charge came from us.

    Yes, I did receive a payment notice via my bank from WPCHARG with a set of 10 numbers. It’s defiantly WordPress.com

    I have a personal relationship with my hosting company and they would of notified my if it were them.

    And the amount that was charged is actually $132.87. I’m guessing an amount of GST was added to the original amount of $129

  • Yep, well that does sound like us then. And you say you didn’t find anything when you searched https://wpchrg.wordpress.com? If you used the right name and credit card, the charge information should’ve come up for you.

    If not, I could probably find the charge by getting your first and last name.
