failure to restore default name record, naming mismatch, ssl certificate pending
-
Dear WordPress,
My site above is currently appearing as not secure when accessed, but I have not been able to fix this. When I seek to restore the default name record this fails, a check with the Qualys server test notes a “naming mismatch” on the certificate, with common names *.wordpress.com and the alternative names: *.wordpress.com wordpress.com causing the mismatch. My dashboard has stated that an “ssl certificate is pending” for some days. Help very welcome!

However, the www version of your website is not working because there is a DNS record pointing the www subdomain to a different IP address. You can restore the default CNAME record for the www subdomain by going to your DNS records page. This guide shows you how to do that:
DNS records are special settings that control what people see when they visit your domain. They also allow you to connect your domain to third-party services such as an email provider. This guide will show you how to add, remove, and change your domain’s DNS records. Reasons for Editing DNS Records You may want to edit the DNS for your domain if you are: Verifying your ownership of a dClick the Manage button on the DNS records page and then select the Restore default CNAME record option from the action menu (three dots) at the top of the DNS page.
