Fair use of content
-
Hi, I want to make sure I understand the user guidelines before I publish posts. I want to publish a compilation of 60’s inspired fashion photos as a shopping guide. The photos are curated from the internet, on websites that sell clothes, for example Etsy. So I would publish photos that aren’t mine. There would not be much text, mostly curated photos, like those buzzfeed articles. I plan to do mostly posts like this in my blog, I wonder if it is allowed on a wordpress.com blog?

Publishing photos that aren’t yours is a copyright infringement and can cost you a lot of money. So it’s a very bad idea to do so.

Hi there,
You can read here about the fair use principle around when it should be okay to use copyrighted images without prior consent from the copyright holder:
However, note that fair use is not a law, just an accepted principle, and whether or not use of an image falls under fair use can ultimately only be determined by a judge if and when a copyright issue goes to court.
As such, we recommend you only use images that you own, are in the public domain, or have been published under a license that allows re-use, like Creative Commons images.
