Fatal Error After Downgrading WordPress – Unable to Access Admin or Restore

  Hi everyone,
  
  I recently attempted to downgrade my WordPress site to an older version. However, after the downgrade, the site now shows the message: “There has been a critical error on this website.” Unfortunately, I did not receive any error notification email, and I am currently unable to access the WordPress admin dashboard at all. Is there any way to restore the site back to the newer version (WordPress 7.0) under this situation? Since I cannot log into the backend, I’m not sure what the safest recovery method would be. Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  We can’t help as that site isn’t running on the wordpress.com platform. You must head over to https://wordpress.org/ to solve this problem yourself.

  Downgrading is always a risky business as in version 7 the database got changes which aren’t compatible with older versions.
