Feature Request
-
Hello! I am just starting a blog to use in my classroom to answer middle schoolers’ questions from class. I’d like these to be anonymous and usable just by my coteacher and my two classes (about 54 kids each year). Every post will be password protected so that we can answer the questions that they write and put into the little boxes in our classrooms. I would love to be able to change the default privacy setting (a la venmo transaction public/private settings) to always be password protected by the same password. Your AI assistant told me to pitch the idea here.
Thanks for any help!-Hilary
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That feature already excists, simply set your site to private – https://wordpress.com/support/privacy-settings/make-your-website-private/

Hi there, if I understand correctly, you want to use the same password for every post and page? While that is certainly possible already, it’s less secure than creating a site that is entirely Private, as @staartmees said.
When your site is Private, you’d need to invite your students to view it. Students would then need to create a WordPress.com account with an email address in order to log in and view the site.
Going back to password protecting instead on a Public or “Public-Search Engines Discouraged” site, your students would need to subscribe to the site to get notifications of new posts.

Also, you mentioned middle schoolers. WordPress.com does have an age requirement for account owners so if your students don’t meet that age requirement, they’ll need parent permission.
You might also want to explore CampusPress K-12 to see if it suits your needs. (That is a different hosting provider, not WordPress.com. NAYY)
